If a spoonful holds more than everything I wish to tell you, would you take a bite?

The crumbs left of our existence is but a profound memory in someone’s mind and mine trace back to the moments shared cooking and eating with loved ones. Watching mum and dad’s backs as they folded dumplings or my godmother’s hands while peeling potatoes.
As I chewed through the layers of food, fashion emerged as its hidden flavour: The ingredients or materials I chose, their quality and traceability, the experimentation of texture, colour and shape manipulations as well as the final presentation that is more than meets the eye. The art of preparing food mirrors the art of making clothes. Two creative expressions, boiling over with cultural history, traditional craftsmanship and (buried) emotions. The lid waiting to be lifted by a curious cook or a hungry gourmand. Or a glutton, ready to devour the newest piece in a cycle of obsolescence. Who do you want to share your meal with? What kind of cook do you aspire to be?
Although seemingly mundane, family recipes and heirloom garments are what I preserve in order to recreate a fleeting moment in time - best when slow-cooked with love. While fermenting, knitting, combining and steaming, we gather around the table to exchange our knowledge, collaborate on ideas and spark conversations. Above all, this menu of four looks wishes to share the joyfulness and energy of four dishes holding special meaning to me, spiced with a generous pinch of nostalgia. I invite you to join me at the table, where garments are not just worn, but absorbed — like a meal, connecting us in a place beyond words.
