Glossy Skin
Balancing a harmony between vulnerability and strength as well as brutality and beauty is the main influence for this collection. My fascination with the praying mantis began when I lived in Indonesia, where I spent hours in the bushes, captivated by the creatures around me. My first encounter with a praying mantis left me struck by its calm, reminiscence and striking beauty. I remember it was green and completely camouflaged with its surroundings. Little did I know it was just one out of thousands of different variations spread across our globe.

In Indonesian culture, praying mantises are often revered as symbols of good luck and spiritual significance. They embody both sensitivity and power in my opinion. The way their surface glistens (exoskeleton), resembling the residue of a glossy skin that’s left after we cried. That was the thought behind the name of this collection.
-
Rather than trying to replicate the mantis directly, my goal was to create a hybrid between a humanly figure and a mantis. I either drew inspiration strictly from their colors, shapes, surface or just simply imagined what they could look like as a hybrid. I truly enjoy the art of interpretation. Holding as little restriction and as much freedom as possible.
-
When creating, I thrive to add intricate and whimsical garments into my slowly growing archive. I envision each look in this collection as both a cohesive whole and as individual piece. In my mind they function as styling elements. Ready to be rented to stylist and artist, worn by different people in varied settings and combines with other pieces to serve their purpose. Each should stand out by their own but create a new dimension when mixed together.
-
Ultimately, i want everyone to become more aware, gentle and observant of the magic around us. Both big and small. I also want them to recognize that we are not the only organisms on this planet. There are millions of other creatures that live among us. I am speaking for the tiny, scared and vulnerable ones.

Regarding the garments, i see them undergoing a constant metamorphosis each time they are worn, allowing every piece to shine independently, forever.
