Lo que se hereda no se roba
This thesis is born from the clash of specific interests, combined and expressed through my own aesthetic. I bring together influences that have shaped me in the past and continue to shape me today: my family, Argentine culture – gaucho clothing, bobbin lace, and Formula One. At first glance, these references may seem unrelated, yet they all speak to me about resilience, dedication, and the constant will to improve, that’s what I aim to transmit.

I cannot clearly define when my desire to create began. It may have started with my grandmother’s handmade couture, a broken sewing machine, learning bobbin lace at the age of nine, or the need to create what I could not afford. What I know for certain is thatsomewhere in between these moments, wanting to make everything coexist as one became essential.

The work is grounded in traditional Argentine gaucho garments and bobbin lace handmade by my grandmother, which are translated into clothing that balances the clash and elegance. I explore combinations such as pairing a poncho with a tailored vest; introducing one-of-a-kind bobbin lace prints alongside my own Formula One–inspired winning cap, using the sharp, technical aesthetic of racing to evoke discipline, endurance, and achievement; and translating bobbin lace techniques into leather while preserving their original references. Each look is developed from a central garment and constructed through contrast: soft and hard, tradition and speed, restraint and desire. Rather than relying on literal references, these influences are expressed through sharp silhouettes and varied materialities, with my family serving as the cast.

Throughout the process, I confront a constant tension: sadness for what can never be the same, pride in what has been achieved, and ambition for what is still lies ahead. The central question of this thesis was how everything I am drawn to, no matter how unrelated, can make sense when filtered through me. The answer emerged through the process itself: these influences were already mixing from the very beginning, and this project allows them to exist as something uniquely their own, while honoring what I leftbehind and affirming this ongoing, evolving definition of my personal fashion.
