salt of the earth
For my Bachelor Thesis I depict the first seven days of the creation. It is my Interpretation derived out of the King James Bible, the first book of Moses: Genesis.
_
I try to tell it without using any Christian- normative symbols.
It is a performative narration of the story of creation, depicted through fashion.
_
Stemming from the meaning of my name: Bada: Which directly translates from Korean into ocean: I started experimenting with salt: in particular the process of salt-crystallization.
_
salt is my metaphor, thereupon let it act as connecting link to express the entanglement of apparently isolated values, themes and knowledge. Hence, salt serves as my personal signature.
_
The contextual starting point of my Bachelor Thesis is my differentness. But there are things equal to all of us. WE NEED LOVE. Otherwise, we’d wither away.
_
My work is driven by the desire to cultivate more acceptance in this world.: more understanding, kindheartedness, respect and appreciation.
_
Therefore, let me show You who I am.
_
The material choice is strictly based in natural monomaterials. In avoiding blended and synthetic fibers, I return to the primordial. - a performative gesture
_
Since the beginning of my studies, I dug into my Korean roots. Consequently, I learned a lot about Korean traditional handcrafts and aesthetics.
_
Especially Craftsmanship fascinates me on multiple levels: the historical knowledge, its beauty and high quality. I can feel the inherent appreciation in such multi-layered works which creates added value.
